Poll #2: Be my Valentine

Let me explain the poll better.

If for example this Valentines day, your S.O. (significant other) gave you these choices and you can only choose one, which of these are you going to choose? The condition is that you could only choose one for the day and that's it. (Ok sana kung all of the above and in that manner no? *LOL)

I know choices 3 and 4 is incomparable with 1 and 2. I just want to know your, ahm, opinions? Different strokes for different folks. *wink*

Chinese Noodles

I borrowed a Chinese cook book which I saw from my ninong's (a guy godparent) place. I've only tried two dishes from that cook book and so far so good. We had Chinese Noodles (that's the name of the dish already) for dinner awhile ago. Yikes! I forgot to take some picture. I have some pictures of Vera eating the noodles though. *grins* Anyway, it actually tastes good. I'm not saying it because I did it. Honestly speaking, it was yaya G cooking, I was just giving her the instructions. *grins* So you see, it's a team effort and we all liked the food, even Vera. It's simple. I'll tr to post the recipe tomorrow.

Here's Vera eating her noodles.

Mimi! (Mickey!)

Vera loves mimi (Mickey) so much that she always watch her Mickey Mouse Clubhouse (The Great Adventure Hunt) VCD in her room. And since I work here in our room, youtube is the next best thing we have. I am posting it here to save it, easy access! *smiles*

Wish list #8: Laptop Bag

I am surfing the net for a new laptop bag for my future laptop, *LOL*!

I found this one and what's nice about it is that it doesn't look so "techie" at all. It's luca bella by gina b. international and worth 10% of a 1.8GHz MacBook Air. It's a multiple feature handbag that can accommodate my mobile phone, keys, pens, wallet and probably some documents. I can also probably put some of Vera's diapers inside. *LOL*

I can only really dream about these two items. I'm not spending PHP140,000 for these. Maybe I will when hamey wins the Lotto. *grins*

For Sale Items

I am selling some used and unused stuff which can be found in my multiply site. I've sell some items already and there are some others left. The items for sale are mostly for new moms. There are also three (3) items I used in my previous business (which is not in anyway connected in being a new mom unless you want to use the photocopier to photocopy some baby documents? *grins*).

Anyway, Since I now have my own domain, I can probably work on having my own merchandising page. If ever, I could probably use Ashop Commerce' shopping cart. This shopping cart software can accept online payments thru credit cards or PayPal. Now, this is going to be hassle free for both me as the merchandiser and my future clients.

I better start making that page. *smiles* Will update you on this. I still have so many pending things to do. (First things first, clean up my messy table!)

So far so good

So far so good. Hopefully I get it. One last and I'd know for sure. Will be preparing for it. Sorry, I can't elaborate more, I just don't want to preempt things. Please, please help me pray. *grins*

Anyway, I'm cooking up another poll after this current one. I just hope there are guys who could participate. (Tell your SOs *smiles*)

Counting Chronicles

My sister was here two nights ago. While playing with Vera, we asked her to count. Vera didn't reply. My sister counted in German (Eins, zwei, drei...) then I realized that since I am teaching Vera how to count in English and Tagalog, I should also probably be teaching her how to count in Mandarin fookien. No, I'm not Chinese, hamey is. I'm 100% Filipina and hamey is 75% Chinese-25% Filipino. Hamey (or was it Marie) taught me how to count in Mandarin fookien when we were still in college. I can also write few Chinese characters before. Since I don't have any practice, all I know is from 1 - 3. *grins*

I'll update you more about this later. I need to prepare now. Have to attend to something. Wish me luck!

Good Morning!*

*Imagine that I'm smiling at you!

I love waking up in the morning seeing or hearing good news. Like just today, I woke up to find out that I have been approved in Smorty. This gives me another option to write opinions on advertisers' site. Do blog for money? If not, you might want to start now. So let's get paid for blogging, okay?

I have been successful with this but not as successful compared to my other blogging friends who were already able to afford a Louis Vuitton bag through their earned money through blogging. I am looking forward to that day. But I have set my mind on something else, I really want a new laptop! *grins*

Well anyway, I hope this means that today is going to be a good one for me. I still have something to look forward to this afternoon. I'll tell you more about this if I get successful with it. Wish me luck!

Do I need another new pair of eye glasses?

I started having astigmatism when I was still in college. Maybe because I was almost always in front of the computer specially when cramming up for deadlines or solving logical problems. My eldest sister advised me to always wear my glasses since there is still a chance to correct my problem. It was really difficult at first specially when eating. I am uncomfortable seeing my frames. I don't know if I chose the wrong pair or it is just me since I just have the problem while eating. *grins*

Anyway, true enough, my vision went 20/20 again. But now I think I had it back or worse. Now I have to look for another pair again. Good thing I had a Great Discovery: Zenni Optical. Zenni Optical: Sell Rx Glasses $8 with case! Again! $ 8 Zenni Optical Rx Eyeglasses! That's PHP320.00 only! That is about 1/4 of the original price of my first pair of eyeglasses. Note that I had two!

I should have found about this when we were still in Michigan, at least shipping is way much cheaper compared if shipped here. Well, Best Thing Found: Zenni Optical! Zenni Optical $8 Rx Glasses, what a great choice!

Bitter Melon aka Ampalaya

Our dinner for tonight was stir-fried ampalaya (with shrimps). It was really bitter that all of us four (me, my mom, yaya G and yaya J) were not able to eat a lot. But to our surprise, Vera liked it. She ate it as if it was her favorite fries. We were really amazed how she liked the food. She even asks for more when she finished her first serving of ampalaya. Natalo kami ng one year old! (We were beaten by a one year old!)

The Grapevine

As I was blog hopping and surfing the net, I stumble upon this site, the Grapevine. This site is maintained by 4 strong women who tries to be role models for the female generation from 25 to 49 years old. They share not only their thoughts but also their lives, loves and shopping tips.

In their site, they talk about fashion, health, family, travel and entertainment. They also have a Grapevine Blog wherein the readers are given the chance to also contribute their own insights regarding the topics. What a great all in one site for us.

My imperfect cake

I went on doing the adult style cake this afternoon which, sad to say, was a failed attempt. I actually got an accident as I got burnt with the molder and I tipped it over crashing the second cake (I made two layers). I did not make the chocolate gnache anymore since the cake was ruined.

So there, no picture for this one. *buhuhuhu* It's going straight to our stomach. *grins*

An Update on my breast feeding

I have weaned Vera since November last year, that's almost two months ago. I was surprised to learn awhile ago that I still have milk. Well, I'm not going to elaborate on how I found out. To the breast feeding moms out there, how soon did your breast dried up? (tama ba term ko?)

I did it!

I bought my own domain name! The old web address will automatically redirects you to the new one: myuntamedworld.com

see you around!

PayPal's Official e-mail

I blogged about the PayPal good news last Sunday and now here is the official e-mail notification I received this morning.

First impression: Natawa ako (I laughed) at the sight of the old Philippine five peso bill.

Cook fest

Okay, I have to blog about my cook fest yesterday before I get out of this room today.

My youngest sis who has been requesting me to bake her cake since April 2007 (I think) was here in Manila and asking for it again. (Not whining here). I am supposed to make it last Sunday but Vera got sick that day. So I have to postpone it until the following day (yesterday). But as I've said before, I was too dizzy yesterday but my mom was super persistent. So fine, I made the cake after lunch. Good thing I didn't feel dizzy while making the cake, I was actually having fun. I didn't make the same cake I did on Vera's 5th month birthday. I made it kid friendly since my sister's going to share it with our niece and nephews. I haven’t had any news from them about the cake. I hope they liked it (not to the point they want me to make another one again, hahaha! Feeling!) And since I only made one yesterday, I’ll be making another batch for us today. This time, I’ll be doing an adult style cake. By the way, by the means of kid style cake = I used the filling as frosting too. For the adult cake, I’ll just use the filling as filling and I’ll make chocolate ganache for frosting.

So anyway, I cooked hamey’s lunch viand for the following day come dinner time. I made him Five Spice Beef and Broccoli. I’ll hear about it from him later, I hope this one he’ll like.

So that’s what kept me busy yesterday. I’ll try to post again later about my adult style cake. *smiles*

Not feeling well

Vera's has fever since yesterday morning. We brought her to the doctor and was just advised to monitor her fever and gave as a suppository prescription just in case. The doctor actually said that we should always have one in our refrigerator, sort of part of the first aid kit.

So anyway, this morning when I woke up about 4 in the morning, I felt that Vera was hot again (37.9). And the bad thing was, I also didn't feel well at that time. I'm too dizzy to stand up. Actually, too dizzy just to even open my eyes. Good thing hamey was not mr. sungit (grouchy) when I woke him up to help me give Vera her medicine.

We're both doing fine now. Hopefully, we are fully recovered by tomorrow, specially Vera.

Paypal Goodnews

I just received an e-mail from Apols regarding PayPal. She just informed us that we can now directly withdraw our PayPal funds to (I guess any) bank here in the Philippines. No more $5 fee.

Here's an image I captured from Paypal:

This is great! Good thing I never opened a new bank account just for this.

Wish list #7: Ride and own a motorbike?

I really like to learn how to operate a motorbike even then when I was a kid. Before, I feel it's cool to own and to actually know how to handle a motorbike. Now, it's more of for practical reason. Why? Well, it's all about the gas, it doesn't come cheap!

Anyway, we live near SM and I notice that parking space for motorbikes gets wider and bigger compared before. It goes to show that there are a lot of people now using this means to travel. Its way more practical especially to people like us who lives in a village next to a mall.

*sigh* If only it’s easy to get a license. If only it’s easy to learn without getting bruised (I feel that I’m going to be thrown out of the bike on my first try). And, if only my budget permits. *grins*

Failed attemp

Hamey and I went to ATC awhile ago to check the MNG Dress I was eying on. Well, he doesn't like the dress. According to him, the dress is not appropriate for weddings. So, ok. I know I have my own choice but I really like to buy something that he also likes (for me). Then we went to People are People to check if I can find anything there. We did find something but hamey didn't like it again. When we were outside the store, I pointed out that the dress is nice, simple and really looks good. Guess what was hamey's reply? I'm top heavy and that what makes the dress unattractive! *LOL* As I remember it right, the dress is not revealing (cleavage wise) compared to the one in MNG. It's baby doll dress type and I think my, ahm, assets doesn't look innocent at all. *LOL* (as if naman napaka laki no!)

O well, we'll try looking for "the dress" tomorrow at Sari-Sari Store. Wish me luck!

Friday, January 25, 2008

Seriously?!

As I was surfing the net, I saw this, ahm, Extreme Babouche Hole Pump. Yes, it's real and it's LV and worth $640! Please tell me, do you honestly think you can wear this comfortably? Who has a spare $640 to try this on? *grins*

I found a dress

But I didn't buy it just yet.

My mom told me to check it with hamey first. It hides my big tummy but not my arms which is really fine with me. MNG online doesn't have a detailed picture of the dress. There's no problem with the frontal area, a little plunging but not too revealing. The back area is what's revealing, *grins*. I really like the dress, it's in my favorite color (red) and it’s on sale. I was not able to check the original price but according to Ms. Marian (the sales lady), it’s 50% off.

Well, I’m going back there with hamey in tow. Crossing fingers here.

Why do they want to grow fast?

No, I'm not referring to Vera.

We went to ATC awhile ago and as I was dropping off my mom, Vera and Yaya J in frontof Starbucks, I saw two High school girls alighted the Starex in front of me. I was shocked to see young girl with plucked eyebrows, blush ons and lip gloss. Well, more on the plucked eyebrows and blush on really. I immediately thought of my high school days (parang na time space warp ata ako!) At that moment, I scan my memory if I ever had a batch mate who wore blush on outside the campus. I only remember having schoolmates with long finger nails, baby face powder (a... it can be!). Well, for the benefit of the doubt, I just remember now that there's already a pink baby powder being marketed here in our country. Well, I hope it's what those kids are using. There so young and I think there youth makes them pretty.

LF: Formal Dress

Hamey and I will be attending a wedding this February. I'm trying to look for dresses that will hide my flaws (big tummy, big arms). As I was looking at MNG's online shop, I found this nice dress which I think will hide my tummy and my arms.

I'll be going out later for some errands, hopefully I can pass by MNG's store in ATC and check if they are still on sale. Hopefully I find a nice dress there. Wish me luck!

Wish list #6: Nokia E65

I just found out that it now comes in Pink! No, it's not really my favorite color. I don't know how it happened. I just started to love the color when I got pregnant. It's the hormones probably. And I assume it's still with me! *LOL* I've never owned a pink shirt or anything pink before not until 2006, when I was pregnant with Vera.

Anyway, I've been eying this phone since I first saw it. If I actually had a budget last Christmas, this is what I probably got hamey as a present. Of course not in this color.

My last phone (which I actually bought for myself) is now being used for loading. My mom gave her N93 to me last year, masyado daw hight-tech for her. It comes with wi-fi which I always use to check my mails. This is probably the reason why if I'm going to get a new phone, I want something that definitely have a wi-fi. I got addicted to it! As if I'm a career woman who always has important emails to check. *grins*

113 emails!

The first thing I do when I wake up in the morning is to check my inbox for any email. Woah! I was surprised this morning to see that I have 113 emails waiting for me! How did that happen? Yeah, yeah, someone sent me an email.

It seems that either I had a problem with one of my yahoogroups and received # of days worth of emails today or everyone thought of sending email today (or last night). Geesh!

Anyway, I've cleaned up the inbox for email accounts 1, 2 and 3. I'm now in the process of checking accounts 4 - 8. *grins* Yeah, I have so many accounts! Argh!!!!

Are you into investing?

There are many choices with regards to investing. You can invest through the stock market, the bank, lending it to someone (of course with interest), buying house and lots, bonds and mutual funds and buying gold and silver.

If you are or you want to get into gold investing, there is this one company - Monex Deposit Company which sells precious metals. One option to choose from when buying gold or silver with the company. One can either purchase it all in cash and “have it delivered to you through registered and insured U.S. Mail or have it stored in one of the many secured banks in the U.S.”

I think, investing in gold or other precious metals is one of the safest investments one can have. Gold has been with us for centuries and will continue raising its value for more centuries now. This, if not secures our wealth now, will help secure the future of our kids, even their kids and our next family generation.

New Discovery: Turbo Broiler

Hamey cooked baked macaroni last Sunday using our turbo broiler. To my great surprise, it can be use for baking pala! Wipeee!!!

I love baking. I gained a lot because of baking. I tried baking cookies and cake when we were still in Michigan. I bake and I eat all the goods specially the cookies, o my! If I am not satisfied with the outcome, I try making another set again. And yes, I eat all of it. I was brought up not to throw or waste food. And that's the reason why I gained 10 pounds!

I'll try baking using our turbo broiler one of these days. I hope I'll get the same result as I had before. Yummy!

R.I.P Heath Ledger - 28

When I woke up this morning and checked my mails, I saw my twitter chat (c/o my gmail account) flashing. I saw a message about Heath Ledger (Brokeback Mountain) dying from angelisophia. What an early tragic news! As I mentioned this to hamey, his reaction was: tapos na ba i-film ang Batman? (Are they done filming Batman?) Heath was playing the role of Joker for the next Batman series. And yes, according to the news link I found in Yahoo, they're done filming the movie. Buti na lang!

As I was talking to Jen about this awhile ago, we both thought about what happened to River Phoenix (My Own Private Idaho) in the nineties. He died of heroin and cocaine overdose. He was just 23. *sigh*

Wish list #5: Vanity Mirror

I want this Vanity Mirror!

As I was plucking my eyebrows, holding the tweezer in one hand and holding a small pocket sized mirror in the other, I realized that I want a vanity mirror just for this. *grins* It's difficult for me to pluck with both hands busy holding stuff. I at least need the other hand free to stretch my skin so I can see the shape of my eyebrows better. I fear that I might overdo my plucking which happened to me once already. *grins*

The poll has ended.

I made a poll about 10 days ago about the meanest thing you can describe a girl. Here's the result:

9 out of 10 voters think that the meanest thing to describe a girl/lady/woman is that he's gay when in fact she's 100% girl. The 1 who voted for hipon (shrimp) actually thinks that the meanest is if you were described as gay hipon, *grins*. Again, no offense to all the gays out there. It's just our POVs. *hugs*

Thanks for voting guys. 'Til our next poll!

Our planned trip

As I have said in my previous post, I was looking for hotels in Australia to stay in for at least a week. I have been searching the net for cheap hotel or vacation packages and I came across Hotel Reservations which offer special internet rates. And since I’m planning a week’s vacation, I can have a $30 rebate which they will credit back to my card. Not bad at all. Now, if only we’re decided on which date to go. *grins*

Is Ubuntu for me?

Hamey got a free Ubuntu CD which he will install in his laptop with the help of our friend Roel. (Special mention ka pare!) I've tried installing Ubuntu in my previous desktop and since I'm a Windows user, I don't know how to go about it. I want to try it again in my laptop this time and see if it will work better than my XP home edition. Though my laptop didn't blue screen on me for the past three days I think, I'm more inclined to try linux again. I just have to check if my Adobe Photoshop installer will work on a linux OS. PLUS, I have to transfer some files (for the nth time) to our external hard drive which I hope I won't format accidentally for the second time around! *grins*

Picture, Picture!

Vera loves posing for the camera. Every morning, we take our pictures using my mobile phone. Then at night, we watch the slideshow of our pictures in my phone (to the tune of the Alphabet song: A you’re adorable, B you’re so beautiful…) while she drinks her milk. Now I have some which I compiled using Picasa and made it as my laptop wallpaper. I so love posing for the camera with Vera. It’s now becoming a habit for the two of us, *grins*
